About Me

It's your journey - travel it well with Turas

Meet Lindsey

Turas means 'journey' in Scottish Gaelic. Feasgar math, is mise Lindsey Brittain. Hi, I'm Lindsey, a proud Scot and I am Turas.

I truly think that each and every one of us has something remarkable within. But, you know, sometimes our fears—like the fear of losing out, not being enough, or never succeeding—hold us back. Plus, there's those stories we tell ourselves, the people around us, and the situations we're in can stop us in our tracks. I'm all about helping you break through those barriers, making remarkable within reach.

I've set up Turas to help you find the space, power and resilience to be remarkable in your own right. To conquer stereotyping, hierarchy and bureaucracy to transcend industry norms and rise to new heights, personally and professionally.

My passion comes from wanting to help you see there’s options and different way to do things. Options that let you do more of what you love, delivers results faster and be less draining, and gives you more space to grow at work and at home.

I'm all about helping you to see what's hidden and where you’d like to head, break through your barriers, plan your next steps and take action - making remarkable within your reach.

I’ve set up Turas based on my core beliefs:

CONNECTED JOURNEY

Learn More

Everything in life is a journey - your career, your leadership, your home life and your business - and they're all connected. One small, positive step in one part of your journey ripples across the others.

REMARKABLE JOURNEY

Learn More

Every one of us has the potential to have a remarkable journey. Sometimes your deepest fears, the stories you tell yourself, the people around you, the situation you're in or lack of clarity around where you want to head and how to get there can hold you back. Lasting change starts with who you are - your identity, i.e. your intrinsic wiring.

ENJOY YOUR JOURNEY

Learn More

You have the right to a great journey, to get excited about what's possible and make that a reality. You also have the right to enjoy the surprise and wonder along the way, not just focussing on your destination or continuously seeking happiness in your next 'when'.

SPACE, POWER & RESILIENCE ARE THE SECRETS TO A GREAT JOURNEY

Learn More

In my 26-year journey as a change agent in Marketing, Communications and Business Management, I've let stereotyping, hierarchy and bureaucracy, fear of failure, imposter syndrome and past regrets sometimes limit my possibilities. I've learnt there are 3 pillars to a great journey:

1. SPACE: a calm and confident mindset is critical in today's frenetic climate. It frees your mind from daily chaos, giving you 'air' to nurture your strategic thinking. It lifts you out of reactive slog, opening up your mind to imagine what's possible and think creatively. It creates a sense of lightness and calm to discover your real 'why' and redirect your passion into something that really matters to you.

2. POWER: takes many forms, from having clear goals to your technical skills and influence. It involves having your contribution understood, being part of crucial conversations, and maintaining relevance. Amplifying your POWER includes reinforcing both your strengths and weaknesses, connecting and networking with a supportive community.

3. RESILIENCE: crucial for weathering life's 'storms' and thriving amid uncertainty. Resilience helps you confidently navigate twists and turns, bounce back from setbacks and adapt for future success. It helps you feel in control. Waiting for adversity to strike before focusing on resilience is risky. Maintaining your resilience is an ongoing journey of self-discovery and adaptation as you move through different phases in your life.

What My Clients Say

Pete Coleman - Communications Manager, Te Tari Pureke – Firearms Safety Authority

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Lindsey is a tremendous coach. Conversations were very clear about what we wanted to get out of a coaching session. She’s good at challenging answers and ideas, without this seeming confronting, and this is where she helped me see opportunities for changing my people leadership style. These I have taken into my new role, and I am using continuously.

Jess Winchester - GM Fundraising & Marketing, Stroke Foundation

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

From the very beginning Lindsey worked closely with me to identify the outcomes my team and I needed from the workshop and to make sure that the day was designed with these specifically in mind. The time flew by - Lindsey is a really engaging and thoughtful facilitator with skills to read the room and encourage participation from even the shyest member of a team. Our workshop was focused on creating one team with a shared purpose and to kick off the development of a new strategy. I walked away at the end of the day feeling like a weight had lifted from my shoulders. My team had got to know each other better and understand the depth of skills and experience they bring to work every day. We'd agreed our shared purpose, identified and committed to the actions we would take to make us successful as a team. And we had the framework of the strategy in place. The icing on the cake was that members of my team independently told me how much they had valued and enjoyed the day. The workshop was such a great investment for us - I'd highly recommend it.

Jonathan Hales - Executive Partner, AKQA

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Lindsey is a natural coach, but does this by servant leadership and by example, and by doing so, provides a high level of confidence and provides an environment here where great can be done, both at an individual and team level. By providing high levels of; education, servant leadership, subject matter expertise, through preparation and structural input, distilling a vast amount of information into digestible content and stimulus for the workshop. Coaching what are already senior leaders in their own right and leading by doing, coaching by guiding, not preaching. I admire Lindsey’s energy, vision and bravery.

David Simpson - Chief of Strategy & Partnerships, Southern Cross

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Lindsey had been at ACC for a number of years, understood the culture, the personalities, the cadence of the business and was able to coach and support me while I transitioned into the new role. She was also instrumental in coaching me as a peer not only over the short term but longer term. I think the greatest quality Lindsey brings to coaching is her approachability and her ability to really get into the heart of what you are working on. She is also high in empathy and has loads of energy which is motivating as a coach.

Tania Brady - Trusts & Foundations Co-ordinator

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Lindsey facilitated an epic one day workshop with our fundraising team in Wellington which enabled us to focus on our goals, identify challenges and motivate ourselves to overcome them within a team and as individuals. If you want your team to develop trust in each other and develop a solid plan for future success, I thoroughly recommend Turas.

Hamish Thornton - Donor Database Co-ordinator

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Working at the Stroke Foundation of New Zealand has been an eye-opening experience into the world of non-profits. Like any organisation we can fall into siloed working environments, particularly as part of the fundraising team in national office, separate from our support workers around the country. After our workshop with Turas, I feel more empowered to treat every interaction within and outside the organisation as an effective connection point to grow each relationship. As one of the front line people answering phones, the exercises in the workshop helped me better understand and appreciate the importance of the fundraising team as a connector between different people in the organisation, and how we can apply and use the amazing breadth of skills we already have to encourage others to make the connections they have flourish too.

For you to be remarkable in your own right...

If this rings true with where you’re at with your own journey and you could use a hand, it all starts with a conversation…so let’s have a chat.

I’ve travelled the Marketing, Communications & Business road myself

In my experience, it’s not until we’re faced with different possibilities, obstacles, sometimes even a ‘stop’ sign that we work out why we’re on a particular journey.

Where we’re heading is of course important. Yet, the real success lies in understanding where we’re at, then with every step we take, enjoying the experience and having fun along the way.

It’s a chance to step into unchartered territory, to learn and grow on a path that may be a bit rocky, yet always has the potential to be life-changing and rewarding.

I’ve walked in many shoes, worn many hats and taken multiple paths in my 26 years’ career in Marketing & Communications and Business Management across the public and private sector, as a consultant and in a creative agency. Having had the privilege of working with people who are truly committed to what they do, I decided it was time to pay it forward to our profession and those of you in it.

Since 2007, I’ve successfully transformed the lives of leaders in Marketing, Communications & Business by enabling them to lift up out of the day-to-day slog and imagine a different journey. To become a trusted, strategic partner and to take measurable action on their ideas – often at pace or under significant pressure.

Throughout my career, I’ve seen many different leadership perspectives and overcome a range of leadership challenges along the way. I’ve helped many people find, unblock, accelerate their path as well as take a completely different path – both professionally and personally.

My Marketing & Communications career has had many highs and lows. I know it can be

Awe-inspiring when you and your team

• are on the front foot:

• everyone understands why Marketing & Communications exists and why it’s important – no effort wasted on validation

• you’re connected into the right conversations, focussing on the right priorities, right from the outset

• you lift out of the ‘weeds’ and operational slog and have time to focus on being a

• get to do what you love, are great at and deliver real results enterprise-wide:

• finding head space to think big and connect across the organisation on a critical piece of work that contributes directly to organisational priorities

• enabling your people to get excited and flourish on the journey you’re taking them on.

• can measure the positive impact you’re making and leverage this to secure ongoing support, recognition and resources.

• successfully go through a change in your Marketing & Communications operating model and culture that is inclusive, maintains positive morale, wellbeing and productivity.

Tough, frustrating and causes burnout when you and your team

• work twice as hard (and waste time) earning your license to operate:

• as a strategic partner for your organisation’s reputation

• as experts in brand, insight, marketing, communications & stakeholder engagement.

• are not engaged as experts:

• not involved in the right conversations to contribute at the level you should

• given an ‘order’, not a clear brief with the business problem to solve

• engaged at the end with no time to do a good job.

• are constantly in reactive mode with no time for proactive, more strategic stuff that matters:
